
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, a
telecommunication technology that can give digital data transmission through cables provided by a telephone company. DSL Internet download speed normally has a range from 128 kbps to 24 thousand kbps. This range depends on the level of service and the DSL technology used by the telephone company and Internet Service provider.
In availing a DSL Internet connection, the
computer user must have a telephone, telephone line, and a DSL modem. DSL modem is used to enable the user to access the Internet service by connecting one or several computers to the telephone line. Some advanced DSL modem are also used in managing the DSL connection to several machines that it is sometimes called a DSL router.
