Modem technology gives you the chance to access the internet while talking on the phone. The connection is very simple because all you need is just a
telephone line. You can connect it by yourself or let an expert do it for you. However, there are certain commands that you must apply so that your modem will operate. One of these is the modifier for dial command. This command will enable you to give an instruction to your modem to automatically perform when you dial a certain number. Such modifiers are the comma, semi colon,
exclamation point, H, and many others.
The comma is used to temporarily stop the modem while you are dialing. Semi-colon on the other hand divides the string dial into
numerous dial commands. You can use the exclamation point to make the modem hang or to disconnect the line of the phone for just a half of second. This is also the function of the letter H. You could use this modifier if you want to transfer the call. Generally this command is used by all modems but if your modem does not work using this command, you must consult the provider of your modem. Sometimes, other modems limit the lines only to 24 characters. This is the reason why a result occurs when you have entered more than the suggested limit of characters.
